Board of Trustees by Te Kura o Kirikiri Tatangi - Seatoun School

2024 was another outstanding year for our school, with student achievement levels continuing to be exceptional. In our last Steeple Rock, you may have seen that 96% of students are reading at or above the expected level, and 93% are writing and completing math at or above the expected levels. These are nationally outstanding results and continue our school's long tradition of excellence.

It is particularly pleasing to see writing results improve after our investment in supporting teachers in refining their writing teaching. These achievements are a collective effort—made possible by supportive whānau, dedicated teachers, engaged learners, and strong school leadership. They also reflect the school’s commitment to key areas such as our library and librarian, smaller class sizes, specialist literacy support teachers, extra learning assistants, and ongoing professional development for teachers.

Delivering these high-quality programmes requires investment, unfortunately, government funding does not fully cover the cost. Many years ago, the school community moved away from large-scale fundraising events like the biennial fair in favour of shared contributions through annual donations. Thank you to those who have already paid their school donations for 2025. If you haven’t yet, please do so if you are able—these funds directly support the quality education we provide.

Information on accessing the Government tax rebate on school donations is available here.

Our After School Care and Holiday Programmes continue to receive excellent feedback, thanks to the mahi of Jen and her team. If you haven’t seen the programme in action, pop in after school or contact the school office for more information.

Finally, a reminder that 2026 term dates are now available—please check the school website for details.
