Regional Cross Country

Regional Cross Country  by Te Kura o Kirikiri Tatangi - Seatoun School

On Wednesday some students from our school and I went all the way up to the regional cross country at Harcourt park in Upper Hutt. Before the race I was feeling really nervous and a little sick. I’m sure some of the others were too. When my friend and I went to go and walk the track it wasn't muddy and slippery at all. When it was my turn I saw some other kids I recognized at the start line. The gun suddenly went off and it was a giant stampede of kids. When I was racing I was already tired at the start of the race. It turned out to be really slippery and muddy because the rain came on and off.

At the finish line I sprinted the fastest I could. Out of the top 90 runners for each age group of the Wellington and Wairarapa region these are our results… I (Harry Swain) came 20th, Kingsley came 3rd, Delia came 8th, Samson came 11th, Emily came 6th, Lucas came 18th, and Toby came 23rd.

Afterwards I felt really tired and I was proud of my sprint finish. It was really fun and I want to make it to the regionals next year. Well done to all our Seatoun runners!
