Kia ora

On Monday we hosted John Parsons a cybersafety expert. John spent his day talking with the whole school in various age groups about all things internet. John does an excellent job of being able to connect with the age range and speak to them in a way they can pick up a couple of tips that will add to their basket of skills when they are in this digital world.

John also spent a couple of hours with parents on Monday evening. I know those of you that attended found it worthwhile as I’ve received emails from you thanking us for the opportunity. Don’t worry if you weren’t able to make it. I am pretty sure John will be back in 2018. He has also just published a book, literally, it goes on the book shelves this Friday. We will have copies for sale from the office in the near future.

One of John’s biggest messages… its not about the kids, its about the adults, my paraphrase. Essentially John was saying our children will copy what they see their parents doing. So before we question the amount of screen time our children have we should first measure our own screen time. I think he makes a good point.

Thank you one and all for coming to the 2017 edition of the Shotover Cross Country last Friday. If you haven’t already seen it there is a great video on our Facebook page that gives you a feel of the afternoon. This of course was the first stage for the older children. The next being the Central Otago event being held in Arrowtown in a few days time.

First win over Australia for the All Blacks coming this weekend…
