This term the middle school has explored how living things live in a connected world, with a focus on plants. As part of this, we went on a trip to the Hamilton Gardens to make connections and learn some more! It was a great day and we were grateful to finally get out on a trip with our parent helpers for the first time in a long time.

Nominations are open for the election of 5 parent representatives to the school board. All eligible voters will receive a nomination form. Use this form to nominate yourself or someone in your community. You will also receive a nomination cover letter calling for nominations.

Our Senior students performed their amazing bucket drumming pieces today - and they were incredible! A massive thanks to Mrs Anna Mills for working so hard with them and arranging all the songs. We are so lucky to have her!

What an awesome show case today! Whanau had a chance to wander through the senior classes, hearing from our local experts (our learners!) on ways to look after our wellbeing.

On Tuesday the 28th of June a bunch of brave Year 3-6 students joined students from all over the Waikato to participate in the Junior Tough Guy and Gal Challenge.

The Hamilton City Council in conjunction with “The House of Science” have created a Water Education Model. This model was designed to teach the children about the significance of the Waikato awa (river).

Silverdale Lakers came 3rd in their grade and Silverdale Bulls came 2nd in their grade this term. Well done everyone!

Learner conversations are Thursday 28th July in Week 1 and Tuesday 2nd of August in Week 2 of next term. Bookings opened this week.

Our new kīwaha is "Ka Rawe!" - Awesome! Cool! Excellent This kīwaha can be used to say how awesome you think something is. - A cool new movie comes out? Ka rawe! - Someone learns something new? Ka rawe! - Your child gets their own breakfast? Ka rawe! Check out the video to help remind you of all the kīwaha we have learnt over the term. Can you use them ALL these school holidays? Karawhiua!

If your child would like to purchase a cup of milo (with two marshmallows) , please give him/her a reusable cup to bring from home (unbreakable if possible). The cost is $1.00 and will available this term from the student kitchen window between 8.30-8.50am.

Year 6 Students who are zoned or applying for an out of zone place were given a prospectus to bring home on Tuesday. If your Year 6 child was away on Tuesday, please ask him or her to pick one up from the School Office.

Have you ever thought about standing to be on the Board of Trustees? You should receive nomination forms by Friday,15th July. Nominations will close at noon on Friday, 5th August.

We always welcome new members - we’d love to see some new faces at our meetings. If you can’t commit to meetings but would like to help out at events, please let us know. We especially need parents that can help out during the day occasionally.

All unclaimed lost property will be donated to charity at the end of the week. Please check the lost property bins for your children's clothing if come to school before the end of the term.

From Monday 4 July to Friday 29 July, children between 5-12 years of age can earn entries for prizes by reading or listening to books every day. There's a classic board game to be won at each library, plus all entries go into the main prize draw. Good Luck! Waimaria rawa atu!

This is being held at the School of Education Basketball Courts at the University of Waikato from 9.00am, to 4.00 pm on 14, 15th, 18th and 19th July.

Learn to make Loco the Taco or Chef Jacques — in each 3 hour workshop we will learn how to use different materials such as foam and felt to design and create a puppet character. We will create a muppet (mouth puppet) and learn how to move the puppets in short scenes. No previous art experience necessary. All materials included, and you can take your muppet home. This course is offered as an in-person workshop in Hamilton at 401 Anglesea Street.

NZ Sign Languages classes will be held at Hamilton North School and Cambridge High in Term 3. Classes are starting the week from 1st August.

Our annual Bookmark Design Competition is back! Time to get creative! This year our theme is 'In the Garden'. Have you got a garden? Why not head out there and let the garden inspire you. If you don't have a garden a visit to a park will be just as good!
