Newsletter Week 2, Term 3, 2021

Tēnā koutou e te whānau,

Firstly - how exciting has it been watching all our amazing athletes at the Olympics! They really have provided some incredible inspiration to our students - they are talking about it a lot at school!

Just like the Kiwi Olympians, we can be successful in what we do here at school. Striving to reach our best, never giving up even when things are challenging, staying true to ourselves, setting lofty goals, working well with our team mates, staying focussed on what is important, celebrating our successes, learning from our failures - there is so much we can take from them that can help lead us to success. I can only imagine what it must be like for a gold medalist to stand on the dais, hear the National Anthem and reflect on everything that's gone into their success - what a moment.

And... welcome to Term 3! I am struggling to understand where the first half of the year has gone - time seems to be flying by. We have kicked off the term with loads of action and enthusiasm which has been awesome to see. Thank you to all our families that came in to school yesterday to attend Learner Conversations - we're looking forward to seeing even more this Thursday afternoon too. If you haven't been able to schedule a time with your child's teacher - they will be in contact in the coming days to find a time that suits you best. Remember in these post-COVID days we are great at connecting digitally too - so if a Zoom suits you best - we can do that too.

If you are new to our Silverdale Whānau and would like to know more about our school, please feel free to call in to the office and make an appointment to see me - I'd love to chat with you about our awesome kura and learn from you about your children.

The Parent Teacher Group (PTG) is a group of parents and teachers that work to create fun events for the kids and fundraise for the school. We always welcome new members - we’d love to see some new faces at our meetings. If you can’t commit to meetings but would like to help out at events, please let us know. We especially need parents that can help out during the day occasionally.
