Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 4 - and it's week 6!!??
I would like to begin this newsletter by thanking you - our community - for your amazing support and mahi through this challenging and disrupted time. We know that the balancing act of home learning, working from home and managing a household is a challenge and I thank you for the way that you have supported our learners throughout this time.
I would also like to thank our amazing staff and leadership team here at Silverdale. Thank you for the way you have put our community's well-being first. Thank you for all the ways you have reached out, supported our kids to keep connected and created distance learning programmes. Thanks also for all the flexibility, organisation and planning - some of which took quite some time and was never needed!
Managing under alert levels is certainly a team effort and I would like to thank you for your part in it!
Moving to Alert Level 2, although an unexpected change, has been amazing for us as a school. To welcome everyone back on site and full-time is fantastic - life has returned to the school! It has taken no time at all to settle back into routines - and although there are slight differences to how we operate under level 2, being here at school feels very "normal".
Looking forward to the future, we know the system will be changing soon to the new Traffic Light Framework - although we know school will be open at each colour - we are still waiting to hear on what each light will mean for the education sector. As soon as we know - we will let our community know.
The end of the year is rapidly approaching. Term 4 was a short one anyway - but having been in lockdown for the majority of it has made it seem very short indeed. A reminder that school finishes at 12.30pm on Tuesday, 14 December.
Thanks again, and as always - please get in touch with me if you have any questions or need more information.
Ngā mihi nui -
Michael Harrop
