Newsletter Week 4, Term 1, 2023

Kia ora e te whānau,

Term 1 is now in full swing!

It has also been amazing to see the sun again.

I would like to thank our community for supporting the safety of our learners last week during Cyclone Gabrielle. It was hard to know exactly how affected our area was going to be from the storm - thank you for staying tuned to our announcements (school app / email), and doing what you needed to keep your children safe. We were pleased we were able to stay open and appreciated those who were able to change their plans, or make it work, to safely drop off their learners to school.

Although the damage was minor for our school - through the media we have all seen the devastation and terrible impact this cyclone has had in other parts of the country. My thoughts have gone out to the schools and communities in those affected areas. The PTG has arranged the 'Odd Shoe Day' to help collect money and resources to be sent to communities in need. I'd like to encourage you to get behind this if you can.

Thanks also to all our whānau who met with our teachers last week. Feedback from our team has been so positive - a great time to connect, plan the year ahead and get to know our amazing kids. For anyone who has not been able to meet with a teacher yet - our team will be in touch soon to find a good time.

As always, please do reach out if you have any questions. Classroom teachers' email addresses can be found on our school website, and you're more than welcome to email me directly or call the office to arrange a meeting time.

Hei konā mai,

Michael Harrop

Principal
