As we continue to focus on the virtue of Fortitude, we are leveraging the research and resources associated with the "Zones of Regulation". This provides students with a key to understanding their emotional responses and helps then identify appropriate and effective strategies to assist with emotional regulation.

After two weeks functioning at Level Two, we have reviewed some of our practices. With only three active cases of COVID-19 in the South Island we have decided to relax some of the restrictions that were put in place.

In light of the physical distancing and contact tracing requirements, we asked parents to stay offsite. This has resulted in unexpected consequences.

A large focus of the first two weeks back post lockdown has been on strategies to support the emotional regulation of our tamariki. Academic Achievement is another important focus that we wish to address here.

Normally we would start the term off with our first week focusing on traditional and devotional prayers (karakia) and then in Week 2 we would move into the Holy Spirit Strand. As our term had begun earlier due to Covid-19, our focus has been on various aspects of the church's Liturgical year, combined with activities based on the Ascension and Pentecost alongside some ‘Prayer and Witness’ challenges provided by the diocese. All the teachers agree that the challenges provided by the Catholic Education Office have been enlightening with regards to engaging children with different aspects of the faith and have engaged many students in many wonderful ways. This week we have been focusing on caring for our world and learning about Laudato Si, which involved learning all about the main aspects of Catholic Social Teaching.

Sadly - Pita Pit Rangiora has had to close. We now have to consider what's next.

EPro8 is a technology challenge that the school sends Y5-6 and 7-8 students to each year. As a result of COVID-19 they have had to alter the format for this year... this means some parent help might be useful?
