The Resilience Project Showcase

What fantastic turn out last night - thank you so much for your support! Our tamariki were so happy to have such a huge audience in the Hubs to share their learning. E mihi ana ki a koutou! Thanks everyone!

In each of the Hubs there were different products on display, the results of quite a few weeks of Project Based Learning. There is always a product at the end of Project Based Learning - but it is not only about the product - it is about the planned process of learning, the knowledge content and the incidental learning that has happened along the way.

In order for the students to have a successful product they needed to learn a lot of content about the Resilience Project, The GEM model (Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness) and Emotional Literacy as well as many other areas.

There has been learning in Health, Social Sciences, Science, Religious Education

- How to be Happy

- Why do we need resilience?

- How can we contribute to a resilient community? How can we active in a resilient community?

- The Resilience Project GEM Model

- The science of being happy

- What and how does kindness do to the mirror neurons in the brain

- How do we create a habit?

- How do the St Francis values align with the GEM Model?

- What are the messages from the bible about Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness?

Depending on the area that the tamariki chose to delve into more deeply they will have had more focused learning in some areas than others.

Learning will have also centred around working with others productively, self-management (in order to get the product completed in the timeframe), how to research (delve more deeply) into topics, how to put information into their own words and much more.

At the end of a project we then give the students opportunities to assess themselves in some of these areas - reflecting on what they did well, what they could have done better.

We were so impressed with all our students and their learning and achievement throughout this project.

Thank you for coming and showing your tamariki that you are invested in their learning.
