Dear Parents, caregivers and friends of St Hilda’s,

It has been a very busy term, and one we can all be proud of. Our new students have been welcomed into our learning community and they have quickly settled in, making valuable contributions to their classes, cultural, service and sporting events, and showing a willingness to make the most of the opportunities on offer.

Some wonderful sporting results, cultural performances both publicly and in assembly, and a happy vibe on dress up days have kept the energy high and the gratitude for all we enjoy evident. Our 125th celebrations were a highlight of the term and the activities shared and memories made will stay with all of us for a very long time. How lucky we all were to be in the school and part of the community for this momentous milestone. The combined efforts of the Old Girls, PFA, staff and students really made for an exceptional celebration, so ably and beautifully orchestrated by Mrs Burke, our Director of Development.

In amongst all the excitement and fun of these extra activities, as always there has been some excellent teaching and learning taking place as we settle to our rhythm for the academic year. Reports will be in parents' inboxes shortly and I urge you all to take up the opportunity of the Learning Conversations at the beginning of Term 2, to really consolidate the partnership between home and school, and to further assist your daughter with her academic progress. These are an important milestone check for all our students across all their subjects.

I know Term 2 will be just as busy and go just as quickly and I wish the school community all the best with all the wonderful events planned. I leave the school in excellent hands as I begin my Term 2 study sabbatical and Mrs Maw takes up the role of Acting Principal, Mr Bradfield comes into the Senior Leadership team as DP Curriculum, and Mrs Almey and Mrs Prentice complete a very strong team. It is always a little unnerving stepping away from the activity, connections, planning and busyness that make up every day school life, however I am committed to making the best use of this study time, exploring organisational cultures and leadership practices that enhance and assist staff wellbeing. Our staff are our greatest resource and anything I learn that further enhances their ability to be their best selves will be valuable to our whole school community. I look forward to contributing in Term 3 on my return.

I hope all our families have time to reconnect, refresh and reflect on a great Term 1, over the coming holiday break.
