The Tahuna Hall was full for the welcoming assembly on the first day of school. Te Taiopeka welcomed the new students and teachers into the hall before Mr Hunter gave his opening address. Staff were also introduced to the students and a warm welcome was given to our International Students.

A reminder for all parents who are intending to have students travelling on this bus - It needs to be fully utilised! There were only 13 Tahuna students on the bus this morning (Thursday).

 Success and Creativity are two of our core values and we like to celebrate our students achievements through our newsletter and assemblies.

What a fantastic start to the year for all our new Year 7's

This is our first week of TECH at Tahuna. We have been split into four groups and mixed with our other team classes Room 3 and Room 14. Our TECH rotation includes hard materials, art, design tech and foods & fabric textiles

Touch Rugby season is here! 

Room 9 is back in the classroom, ready to learn, and loving every minute of it!

Ice Hockey: This week classes have had an introduction lesson to playing Ice hockey.

Girls cricket is about to start and it is a great opportunity for everyone whether you have played or not!

Former All Black and Otago rugby icon Gary Seear passed away this week. Gary attended Tahuna in the early sixties. Mr Hunter actually played a couple of games with Gary at Southern in the late 70's. Gary was missed off the Tahuna Wall of Fame but we will get him added up there soon.

Outdoor Education provides an opportunity to enhance the wellbeing of individuals, groups and communities by involving them in activities that foster adventure and challenge.

Tahuna values are interwoven throughout the classroom programmes and everyday school life. They are also a big part of our reward and acknowledgement system.

We have been lucky enough to be chosen by Lions to be the recipient of the Taieri Gorge Fundraiser for this year. It is really important that we get great support for this opportunity so that we can supply resources in Science & Technology for current students and those to come.

Are you a budding engineer?, do you like solving problems? can you work in a team?

It's that time of the year for parents who are working with children at school or on camp to be police vetted. Here at Tahuna all parents who assist on an overnight camp or who work alone with our children will be police vetted in line with the ministry’s recommendations.

It has been a busy start of the year here in room 19, with plenty of meetings, groups and extra curricular activities to be a part of in 2018. 

In 2018 we are hosting groups of students from China.
