About our School

Tai Tapu School is one of the oldest primary schools in Waitaha | Canterbury and dates back to 1876. Although Tai Tapu School has a history of 150-plus years of educating the tamariki in Tai Tapu, the learning hubs are designed with modern, collaborative learning in mind.

We are proud of a long tradition of semi-rural education, which combines the benefits of a semi-rural position with all the opportunities of contemporary educational practice. We value our bicultural heritage and Te Tiriti o Waitangi | Treaty of Waitangi. Our tamariki are passionate learners who understand their strengths and how their actions make a difference. Our Kaiako are inspirational, innovative and diverse. We ask them to spark and inspire our ākonga.

Our vision is:

Making a difference - self, others and environment...

Our values come from our vision:

Manaaki - Respect for all

Māia - Courage in all that we do

Tipu - Growth, always striving for personal best

Hononga - Connection, we are connected to our whānau, whakapapa, cultural heritage, and the land around us.
