From the Board

Kia ora koutou

Wow, it doesn’t feel like that long ago we were welcoming all our new whānau and tamariki to our kura at our pōwhiri on day 1. I hope Term 1 has gone swimmingly for all our Te Ao Mārama whānau.

The Board held its latest hui at the end of March where we were able to reflect on the year so far and look forward to what is still to come.

As you will be aware our Tumuaki (Principal) Tony Grey has been granted a sabbatical by the Ministry of Education which he will take in Term 2, so the Board would like to wish Tony well on this as he looks to focus on personal and professional growth and development that we know will serve the school well. We are also excited with the opportunity this gives to Anna and Sally and the rest of the team as they lead the school next term.

The staff outdoor area adjacent to the staff room is now complete and is well attended by our staff. I’m sure I speak on behalf of everyone when I say we appreciate the mahi our kaiako put into the school and our tamariki, and the outdoor area is only a small token of our appreciation.

You will have noticed some construction works taking place at the entrance to the school. This is preparation for the installation of the Pāwaha which will be an amazing addition to our kura. More information about this is on the school facebook page and we can’t wait to see it once erected – which is planned for early in Term 2. The Board would like to acknowledge all those involved from conception through to implementation as it has been a long time coming, but one we are certainly looking forward to it coming to fruition.

The Board wishes all our Te Ao Mārama whānau an awesome and well-deserved holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone in the new term.
