Attendance Matters

There have been a lot of media articles recently regarding school attendance, and we are required to report our attendance figures to the Ministry of Education. The Ministry considers any attendance below 90% to be “non-regular”.

You can see your own child’s attendance % via HERO.

To view this:

  • open your Hero App,

  • click on your child's profile image and scroll right to the bottom (past the learning records) to their attendance overview

This will show you their attendance percentage for this year to date (bottom %). The school day is measured in half-days, so the image below shows that this child has had 90 half-days present at school (45 days), and 4 half-days (2 days) absent so far this term. The absences were classed as 'Justified' (i.e. sick) and there are no late days.

Note: you can also click on the different sections of the coloured wheel for more detailed information.

Our aim is to have all students attend school regularly as we know this is strongly linked with academic success and positive social and emotional outcomes. Where possible, please organise appointments, trips and holidays outside of school time.
