A Special Visit

Earlier this week, we paid a very special visit to Dr. Ngāpare Hopa ("Whaea Pare"), a Ngāti Wairere (local iwi) elder.

Whaea Pare gifted us our school name, and it was vital that we included her in the film currently being made about our school and cultural narrative.

Whaea Pare wanted a school name that would be all encompassing and link together Māori, European and the many other cultures, respect the past, while also focusing on the present and future. The school name is a real taonga (gift)
