Communities of Learning | Kāhui Ako are a major strand in the government's Investing in Education Success policy (IES). What trends have emerged from the 220 kāhui ako in operation in Aotearoa - and what's are three significant learnings for our kāhui ako, Te Taura Here, moving forward into 2022?

Pathways

This term Te Pā o Rākaihautū have been continuing to explore our own hapori.

We were all chosen to be part of the kaitiaki group. We looked at our Red Zone land and visited some others.

This year we have run a series of workshops for Kaiako from across our kura.

Creating a zine was one activity in the Positive psychology and Hauora class that really appealed to most students.

We had a great team of leaders this year who were dedicated to providing our Year 7 & 8 students with some mentoring and connecting activities during lunchtimes.

The recent teacher only day at Hagley saw our kaiako and teacher aides gather for professional learning on culturally responsive pedagogy [CRP].

This year, Te Taura o Ōtautahi Kāhui Ako ECE services were invited to participate in a Ministry of Education funded SELO professional learning programme.

2021 saw 16 ākonga Māori in Year 11 begin working with the national Pūhoro STEM Academy.

Learning beyond the four walls of the classroom is a key driver of the hybrid learning pilot at Hagley College for 2021.
