Congratulations to our 2016 Leadership team, announced at this week’s Assembly.

There is an old Irish saying: ‘Tús maith leath na hoibre’ – ‘A good start is half the work’[1]. This implies that while often challenging, a good start contributes greatly to ultimate success.

On 17 January 2016 I attended 'Hands-On at Otago' giving me the opportunity to experience what studying at Otago University would be like.

Over the summer holidays, six Year 12 students (James Bell, Thomas Bell, Ryan Davis, Jason Hodgett, Libby Melhopt and Bailey Whitnack) from Timaru Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools travelled to Montpellier, in the south of France as part of the exchange between our schools and the Lycée Jean Jaures.

The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) is a 12 day residential programme that began operations with Rotary in Australia as the founding partner and is hosted in Canberra.  The forum is for students entering Year 13 who are passionate about science, technology, engineering and mathematics, aiming to show participants a wide variety of study and career options.

On 2 February 2016, Year 13 student Guy McDonald departed Devonport in Auckland harbour on board HMNZS Otago on a journey of a lifetime.

As we start a new school year it is a great opportunity to revisit the school’s PB4L system and the POWER values that guide our behaviour across the school.

 The Year 13 Agricultural Science students need your help to write a Level 3 NCEA report. 

At the beginning of each year the new Year 9 Thomas House boarders remain in the hostel for a weekend of fun activities run by the senior Hostel Prefects.

Each year a group of Year 13 boys put their names forward to take up the role of a Peer Support Leader to help the new Year 9 boys transition into High School life

Earlier last year, Timaru Boys’ was fortunate enough to be invited to spend a week at St Mark’s Senior Secondary School in Delhi India.

On Friday 1 April, the Timaru Boys’ High School Rugby Club is holding a charity auction in the school's Hogben Hall commencing at 6:30pm to fundraise for the 2016 season.

Ben Deeley, Cameron Anderson & Mitchell Dey represented Football South at the National Federation 15th Grade Tournament in Wellington in December.
