After two days of heats the six finalists presented instrumental, singing and dance items of such high standard it was a challenging decision for the judges to select the winners.

On Friday 9th June, three students from Waitaki Girls’ High School – Kika Tangifolau, Sia Nukulasi and Lei Tefaiva were part of the first secondary school programme run by Te Whatu Ora Southern for Pasifika women who have an interest in working in the health sector in the future.

Using scientific method and the principles of fair testing students can collect data for use in statistical analysis in Mathematics.

Earlier this year, three of our students, Anika Hayes, Mei-Li Hayes and Phoebe Wang, completed the first round of the New Zealand Physics and Mathematics Competition.

Ava Kennedy entered a competition by ANZ - a major netball sponsor nationwide - and won!

On Monday we had a visit from a former international student from Hong Kong.

On Wednesday seven students went to the Women in Trades Seminar in Timaru.

Olivia had a great time representing her school this weekend in the intercollegiate tournament held at Dunedin clay target club.

On the 11th and 12th June our 9A, 10A and Senior A netball teams were in Dunedin competing at the Otago Secondary Schools’ Netball Tournament.

House Choirs will take place on Thursday 29th June at 7:00pm in the MK Dunning Hall. The 2023 theme is Dolly Parton.

The Waitaki Singers participated in the Big Sing Regionals on Monday 12th of June. The Big Sing is a nationwide choral competition between high school choirs all over the country. This year, the Waitaki Singers represented WGHS down in Dunedin competing with other choirs from schools from Timaru all the way to Wanaka.

Students in Geography have been using GIS (Geographic Information System) software to understand their local environment. GIS is a computer system that creates, manages, analyses, and maps all types of data.

This week, our team of 6 squash players headed to Timaru to represent Waitaki Girls' at the Aoraki Squash Champs for 2023.

The North Otago Saturday competition is in full swing and it is great to see all of our teams ‘out there, doing it’!
