This week our senior learners were invited to Rolleston College by their learners to participate in small group mini games. I was delighted to receive the following email from one of their teachers:

Tamzin Taylor and Hazel Harvey competed in a recent Gymnastics competition.

We have a very friendly black cat that is wandering along Burnham School Rd and Dunns Crossing Rd and coming into the school grounds. Please remind your children not to chase the cat onto the road. We understand that the cat is very friendly however it is best that the cat is left alone to ensure everyones safety.

We have lots of lost property located in the office foyer in particular a lovely jewellery collection. Please come and have a look to see if any of it is yours.

Well done to our Kapa Haka group who performed so well at our Matariki Evening. We raised $1100 from the Hangi sales to go towards our Kapa Haka group uniforms.

I would like to take this time to congratulate and pass on my appreciation on behalf of the Rolleston Police to West Rolleston School, including teachers, pupils, parents and the Rolleston Community for the dramatic increase in road safety compliance around West Rolleston School.

West Rolleston are entering into the Wearable Arts at the Cultural Festival and we would love it if you could help us!

Please be aware that the round-a-bout by Peppa and Duncan is not to be used as a school drop off area before 10am - it is available only as a pick up zone after 2.30pm. Please also only use the disability car parks if you are displaying a mobility badge - these are needed for parents who require these car parks and not for dropping kids off.

We have had a lot of illness over the past few weeks. If your child is unwell, please can you keep them at home. If your child has episodes of vomiting and diarrhoea our school and Ministry of Health policy is to keep your child at home until well and not to return to school until 48 hours after last episode - Thank you

We are excited to offer a Workshop for parents called “About Anxiety in Children” which covers how anxiety works, what it looks like in children and tips to manage anxiety. It will be discussion based, and there will be an opportunity for parents to ask questions and talk about strategies. It will be run by Ursula McCulloch, a clinical psychologist with years of experience in working with children, now based at the School Based Mental Health Team. Date: Thursday 5 July Time: 6:30 – 8pm in Te Ara Maia

Unfortunately we have had to cancel this terms school disco that was meant to be on the Friday 17th August. Look out for one in term 4 instead.
