Last Newsletter for 2024 - WE 06/12/2024

From the Principal this week....

Kia ora koutou

It is hard to imagine that we are about to enter the last week of the school year. It has certainly been a year filled with fun and opportunities.

With this being our last newsletter for the year I want to take this moment to thank all in our parent community for your ongoing support. Our school community has so many positive attributes and as a school we are grateful to be on the receiving end of these.

We look forward to seeing you at our end of year prize giving ceremonies next week. A reminder that these are as follows:

Year 1-8: Thursday afternoon (starting at 1:30pm) please note that Year 9 and 10 students will attend this ceremony unless they have been picked up by parents and signed out from 1:00pm

Year 9-13: Friday morning (starting at 10:30am) Year 1-8 students are not required to be at school; however, supervision will be provided. Please let the school office know if this is required for your children.

We also look forward to seeing Year 13 students and families at our leavers barbeque on Monday evening.

Next week we will be sending out our Year 1-10 reports. These highlight the learning and progress that has taken place over the course of the year for your child. I congratulate each of our students for the effort that they have put into their learning in 2024.

At the end of this year, we are farewelling a number of staff and it has been wonderful to celebrate these amazing staff members over the last few weeks. We will be sad to say goodbye to:

Mrs Kylee Habgood to the role of Principal – Kaikōura Suburban School

Ms Drin Alleway - Retirement

Mrs Julia Steele – to the role of Head of English at Hurunui College

Miss Zandri Garthwaite – to a teaching role at Kaiapoi Borough School

Miss Rebecca Symes – to a teaching role at Waiouru School

Miss Kimberly Abayon – to a teaching role at Cheviot Area School

We will also farewell our fantastic Science Technician Jessie Dixon and our two amazing German volunteer workers Johanna and Marleen. Please join with me in celebrating the outstanding contributions these members of staff had made to our school.

Lastly, I would like to wish everyone in our school community a safe and enjoyable summer holiday break. May the Christmas season be filled with joy for you all.
