Wow – what a huge first term back at Avonside Girls’ in 2023.

In 2022, Avonside students won eight scholarships. As part of our Academic Assembly, we congratulated these students.

This year, AGHS has over 50 ākonga undertaking a dual enrolment course outside our kura.

At the beginning of the year we welcomed our Year 9 students and new staff to our kura.

A massive congratulations to our ākonga who performed at Canterbury Polyfest 2023.

A couple of weeks back the Supreme Pasifika Awards event was held at Te Aratai College. Pasifika Leaders across all the schools in Christchurch were blessed and celebrated and awards given to academic success in 2022.

Holly competed at the Athletics Canterbury Track and Field Champs on 11 and 12 February.

On the 23rd February we had swimming sports at QEII! There was a lot of great competition between the girls with some tight racing going on! Well done to all the girls that swam!

We celebrated International Women’s Day and Hinamatsuri on Wednesday 8 March. Hinamatsuri is a Japanese celebration of the health and happiness of girls.

Nine of our students were involved in the University of Otago Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival on Saturday, 1st April.
