Columba College History
As early as 1900 The Rev. Alexander Whyte began suggesting that a Presbyterian boarding school was needed in Dunedin. In February 1915, Columba College opened its doors on a prime site on Highgate with 110 pupils.

Columba College School Map
Columba College House System
In 1933 the House System was introduced by the second principal, Miss Grace McIntosh. The vertical grouping of students from Year 0 to Year 13, enables pupils of different ages to mix together. This system is an important part of the Student Support network at Columba whereby younger students can value the friendship and support of their seniors.

All days except Wednesday have six 50 minute periods. On Wednesdays, there is no form time and periods are 45 minutes to allow us to fit in seven.
