Competition Winners

Janine Kroening - September 7, 2022

In Mataī, we are very excited to announce results of two digital technology competitions that some children chose to enter during term 3.

Keeping Safe on the Internet

During Netsafety Week last term, children from Harewood School entered a competition to design a sticker to promote online safety. We are very excited to announce that three of our children's designs were chosen as winners.  Congratulations to Arabella, Ben and Zara.

Arabella was placed first, Ben placed second and Zara earned the runner up prize.  We are very proud of the effort of all those children that entered this competition.

We would like to share with you our winner's top tips for staying safe online.

Arabella

  • Follow the rules, don't click on anything that pops up or that you are not supposed to click on.
  • Don't share your personal information online, such as your full name or address.

Ben

  • Don't talk to strangers online
  • Don't share your password with anyone except your mum or dad.

Zara

  • Ask an adult before gong on your device or on a new game or website.
  • Be kind to others online - don't say mean words.

Coding with Scratch

We are also proud to announce the Sebastian has placed runner up in a coding competition run by our Kāhui Ako.  Children were asked to use the coding programme Scratch to retell the story of Tupaia's journey to New Zealand.
