Pāpākiri's Term 2 Review
Sophie Lawson - July 18, 2023
Welcome back to Term 3! We are excited to be back at school and are looking forward to another fun term in Matai.
Last term was filled with lots of learning and fun. During the last week of Term two we spent the week with Pia learning about Matariki. We learnt about the nine whetū and the meaning behind each one, the significance and story behind Matariki and the many different ways Matariki is celebrated.
A big focus last term was Te Whare Tapu Whā. We learnt about the five pillars of the whare that support our wellbeing. Over the term we practiced balancing our different areas of wellbeing through physical activity, mindful breathing and stretching, keeping diaries and setting goals.
Other highlights were, gymnastics, visiting Ferrymead for the day, a visit from Canterbury museum learning about one of the first ships, Charlotte Jane to Christchurch, visual art project, meeting the Mayor and celebrating Samoan language week.
Our favourite part of Term 2 was:
Cooper J: I enjoyed gymnastics because there were lots of different activities
Milla: I liked the collaging because we got to rip up little bits of paper and create cool pictures
Cooper M: My favourite activity was the visual art collage because it was really fun
JingJing: I liked the Ferrymead trip because we got to wear a really cool outfit and visit different places from the olden days
Tate: Gymnastics because we got use trampolines and different gym equipment
