When arriving on the first day of a school term, International Students will be welcomed into the school grounds with a powhiri and will receive a certificate and small souvenir at a farewell on their last day.
Powhiri by Hobsonville School Office

Students will be welcomed into the school with a powhiri (welcome ceremony) on the day of their arrival. After the powhiri students and caregivers will be invited into the staff room for some kai (light refreshments), and then each international student will be introduced to a "buddy" from their class, who will take them back to the learning space.

Please see attached Powhiri Guide attached.

Our school day starts at 8.50am and finishes at 3.00pm.
There are two break times during the day, when the children are able to eat and enjoy the playground with their friends - times are set out below.  The school has two playgrounds for the children, as well as a bicycle track where they can ride their own bikes and scooters.

Students bring their own healthy, waste free lunch. A waste-free lunch means only packing items that can be composted or recycled. That means, no plastic wrap, no foil, no zip lock bags, and no packaged foods.

On Mondays and Fridays students can order and pay for lunch via Kindo by 9am on the day.  Their lunch will be delivered  to their learning space.
