What a great day the Junior Stars had for their Athletics day on Thursday 7 December.

We are very excited to welcome Miss Katrina Setacci to our Pūtahi Family! Katrina is rejoining us as the teacher for the Room 3 tamariki. While her class numbers are low, Katrina and Jeni are team teaching in Room 1. Please come and introduce yourself!

The devastating floods and mudslides in Sri Lanka prompted Ranuk to donate the money his family would have spent on a birthday party for him, to the people affected by this terrible disaster. This was a true demonstration of a Merrin Star upholding all of our school values.

Lynne Clark is one of our lovely gardeners. Each Thursday she kindly leads a craft workshop, with our Year 1 tamariki. This week each child made an octopus as part of our Visual Arts 'Sea' theme. We really appreciate the time she puts in choosing and organising such interesting activities!

What a stunning day the Junior Stars had for their Athletics day on Friday 9 December.

Leo was born on the 25 April 2016.  Mother and son are very well.

Our head boy and girl, Benjamin and Jessica, led the school through a very moving A.N.Z.A.C Assembly. 

The Year 1 children had fun today dressing up in all kinds of 'Wild and Wacky' clothes. What an imaginative bunch of children we have! Can you guess who is behind these huge green glasses?

We expect all students at Merrin School to be respectful to each other and the school environment. 

The Year 0-3 team (The Junior Stars) had a fun and enjoyable day on Friday 18 March, visiting the Groynes Picnic Area. We went for a nature walk, played lots of fun outdoor games and had a picnic lunch. A big thank-you to all the parents and grandparents who helped us on our great trip!

We will share helpful ideas on how  you can help your child at home with Reading, Writing and Mathematics.  The Junior Stars are holding this afternoon meeting for parents on Wednesday 16 March 2016 at 3.15pm.

On Thursday 10 March Kate from 'Footsteps Dance Company' came to teach the Year 1 children the 'Super hero'  dance. We tried out all kinds of different super hero moves and then put them all together in a combined dance. We would love to show you some of our dance moves at home!

Our Discovery time on a Friday between 11 and 12 o'clock, has begun again, much to the delight of these creative boys.

This is a break down of the Term Accounts for our Junior Stars - Year 1 - 3 students.

On Friday we had a lesson from the Kelly Sports team. They showed us some hockey, football and discus skills for us to practise. Thank you Steve and Cameron for coming along.

This week all the children in the Junior Stars will come home with the book 'Maia and the Worry Bug'.

Welcome to all our new students and parents starting at Merrin School this term.  We would also like to welcome Trish McKendry our new teacher in Room 3.  Helen Abrahams and Becky Bailey are new to the Junior Stars but have taught in the Year 5/6 area of the school in 2015.
