Year 8 Formal 2022

by Matt and Lewis

Didn't our tamariki look sharp at the year 8 formal last week? What a spectacular night celebrated by all of those in attendance. Thank you to the staff who organised this prestigious event. You will not often see a year 8 formal with a red carpet, a live band, line dancing, an abundance of food, a masquerade themed cake created by Whaea Hilary, and tamariki dressed to the nines, enjoying each other's company and making memories that will last a lifetime. Here are a few of the snapshots captured at the formal. Below you will see a link to view all of the photos taken by our own whaea Breahnna.

Prizegiving 2022

by Matt and Lewis

Pride, aroha and excitement are only some of the words we would use to describe our Prizegiving this year. Whaea Nellie stated that although not all tamariki would receive an award, "we see you all". It was especially pleasing to see all our year 8 students called to the stage to receive a certificate and celebrated at the leaver's assembly. Please see below the full list of prizes awarded this year.

VEX Robotics Team Experiences Success at Nationals

by Jason Maraku

Monrad Te Kura Waenga o Tirohanga's VEX robotics team (Thermonuclear Falcons) only had a few weeks to prepare for a competition that other teams had been preparing all year for. However, this didn't stop them from making their presence felt and receiving one of the most prestigious awards. We are now waiting to hear whether we receive an invitation to attend the World Championships in Texas, USA next year.

Harley Hudepohl National Champion!

by Matt and Lewis

We are so proud of you Harley for winning a gold medal at the New Zealand Grappler tournament. Kia eke panuku, kia eke Tirohanga! According to Whaea Starsh Harleys mum. "He was nervous on the way to Auckland and when he got on the mats to compete he changed in to battle mode. There were 6 in his division grey belt. He fought his way to the finals and fought a competitor that had won 13 fights across the country. Harleys first match he won by submission and in his final match he won by points". Please see the full write up in the link below.
