The popular Mt Pleasant Art Exhibition is back again in 2018, with a distinguished roll of artists from close to home and further afield. With more than 45 artists already confirmed, there will be something for all budgets and all tastes.

The design team are moving into the final phases of design. It is exciting to see all of the spaces evolving through the process of design. While it is always a juggle between dreams and budgets we are pleased with the designs and ideas that are developing. It is difficult to capture much of the detail that is going into the design, but be assured that a large team is working hard to include as much of the feedback we have received from the community, teachers and students.

This year we are kicking off Book Week with the unveiling of the Judi Thawley Memorial Chair, we would love for you to join us if you are able. There will be lots of activities for students throughout the week to celebrate the magic of books, rounding off with our famous Book Parade on Friday the 14th..read on for more info!

Our awesome Kapa Haka performed brilliantly on Wednesday! It was great to see the enthusiasm with which our students threw themselves into their performance. Thank you so much ... to Cathy for coordinating all the costumes, to the parents who pitched in to make this happen, and to the PTA who paid for our new costumes! 😍 To celebrate, Kapa Haka are invited to bring a small contribution to share for morning tea on Tuesday

On Tuesday the children involved in Baking Club had a hands-on baking session... a reporter from the Bay Harbour News even turned up to the boy's session!

Our Year 7/8 rock band, Fish Out Of Water, competed in “Band Quest” on Tuesday night and produced a very polished performance!

Interest has been high for being able to to run the STEPS programme at home which is exciting. If you would like to take this up for your child at home please come in and pay Carolyn at the office and then we will go ahead and set you up.

Every few years OSCAR makes a trip to the SPCA as part of our School Holiday programme. Leading up to this we do a collection of old towels, blankets, sheets, and canned animal food to take out & donate. If you can help with any donations we would LOVE to hear from you!

Tena koutou katoa. Nei ra te mihi maioha ki a koutou katoa. We have a number of exciting events planned for our tamariki this term including the Aupaki Cultural Festival and Aupaki Rocks. These events give our students an opportunity to come together to share musical and cultural performances with each other. This is particularly important for our kapa haka groups, many of whom will be taking part in the Christchurch School Cultural Festival.

Kia Ora, we are Kester and Harriette, and we are the Event Organisers for the Student Council and we have an upcoming event, Operation Christmas Child.
