We are now officially half-way through our school year. In this newsletter we look forward to a break to break the 'winter bug' cycle, celebrate a great PTA event, provide a little information around the proposed teacher strike on 15th August and you get a gentle reminder of the upcoming Mid-year Whanau Conferences and farewell one teacher and welcome another to our whanau.

Kia ora koutou ... Below is the information you require to set up your times with each teacher for the upcoming whānau conferences. These conferences are a continuation of the discussion you had with your child's class teacher in Term 1.

Congratulations to Aupaki Kāhui Ako competitors from Mt Pleasant & Heathcote Valley! These amazing girl's menus & concepts were two of only 6 selected out of 220 entries!!!! ... Well done to Nia & Jean from Heathcote Valley on taking out first place! And to our very own Sascha and Lila on making it to second place!

A massive congratulations to our two Year 7/8 EPRO8 teams who competed last night in the semi finals. It was an incredibly stressful 3 hours (and that was for the adults!) and a huge thank you to Lisa C and Tony who helped organise, corral and transport the Year 7/8s.

Having won our SE Zone Rippa Rugby Qualifying Tournament, the MPS Yr 5/ 6 side competed in the Canterbury Championship on Monday of this week.

Hi! I’m Jasmine from Room 7, and I got into the Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival Orchestra. I’m sure one other in Mount Pleasant School got into the orchestra with me.

Overall the representative choir is a huge opportunity that you should take if you can. All of the people are nice, it is fun, you learn lots of new things

Room 1/2 have been learning about the printmaking process. We had an awesome morning working in teams to create some gorgeous koru prints to use for our calendar art.

As part of her community service for the William Pike Challenge Award, Grace M has been knitting up a storm.

What an awesome night! Thank you so much to all the amazing people who supported this event tonight, we couldn't have done it without you...together we raised $6,500 for our school!

It’s that time of the year…winter sport.... in preparation for the SE Zone Winter Tournament we are keen to enter as many teams as possible across the four sport options: ⚽ football 🏑 hockey 🏀 netball and 🏈 rugby. For us to do this, we need parents to help manage (and possibly coach) these teams alongside staff.
