Year 10 student Lucy Dawson is well on her way to reaching her dream of playing in the WNBA.

Last month Ruth Buckland was one of a hundred Year 11 & 12 girls from around Aotearoa who were accepted into the Innovative Young Minds (IYM) programme, designed to encourage young women to explore science, technology, engineering, mathematics and high-tech manufacturing.

Students were entertained by two of Nayland College's bands Muted and The Batteries on the outdoor stage at lunchtime on Thursday. Thank you to the Arts Committee who organised and the band members for a great lunchtime event in the sun!

During the autumn break students Silas Bailey and Morgan Barack completed Atl@s (Advanced Training in Leadership at Sea) aboard Sir Peter Blake’s around the world race winning boat Steinlager 2.

On Wednesday 13 April, Nayland College held its first A&P show in many years. Part of this event was the culmination of the fundraising that had taken place in Term 1 for the charity 'Suzi Seeds in Sean’s Footsteps.'

Each fortnight we have been profiling our 2022 'New to Nayland' teaching staff. Today we meet Colin Frewin who has joined us this year from Hamilton Girls High School and brings with him a passion for all the cool things about science.

Jodie Fa-avae and husband Nathan, both Nayland College alumni, are responsible for creating 'Spring Challenge,' which has become the world’s largest adventure race, geared purely for women.

Just a reminder that there are no lessons on Thursday 19 May and Friday 20 May due to achievement conferences and a NCEA staff only day. And don't forget to get your pink shirts out for Wednesday!

As previously advertised, Friday 20 May is a NCEA Review Staff Only Day. There will be no classes running on this day.

Please be aware that construction work taking place on Nayland Road from 23 May to 13 June will result in some road closures and detours from Thursday 26 May until Tuesday 31 May, between the hours of 10:00am and 2:00pm. See attached letter for more details.
