Visit this articleGateway Gateway is a school-based, government-funded programme for Year 13 students. The key objective is to provide opportunities for senior students to participate in work-based learning with an employer and to gain industry and NCEA qualifications. It is all about students investigating and developing their skills while still at school and to make learning relevant to ensure a smooth transition from school to further tertiary training and work. Students wishing to participate have to commit to: Going to work for 10 days or 80 hours , Completing Industry based Unit Standards and catching up on missed school work.

Visit this articleEach year the Otago Girls’ High School Sports' Council makes grants to those athletes who have achieved the necessary standards for a high performance grant. In April the Council awarded grants to eight students who had achieved New Zealand and South Island representation. The closing date for the next round of grants is September 30. Application forms for these grants can be found outside the student office. Grants depend on the athlete reaching an acceptable standard of performance and the amount of money available. When application forms are completed they should be handed in to Mr Murley.
