‘Persistence is doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success’. This definition aptly describes the attitude students will need for the remainder of this term particularly, with Tournament week next week and Senior exams quickly looming. With over half the term already gone our school value of perseverance will surely be tested.

For all of us in the audience today we are students who are all in the second half of their OBHS schooling career. For Year 13 we have only 1 term, Year 12 5 terms and Year 11 9 terms left. 

The helicopter was a five seater. Matt and Alex had emerged from the control center carrying nothing but their boots and a backpack with two days worth of supplies. They had been given new clothes to wear.

Our combined Otago Boys’ and Otago Girls’ Pasifika choir, Cultural Chords, were asked to open the Big Sing finale which was held in Dunedin this week. 

This adventure education trip was an awesome opportunity for many of the students to step outside of their comfort zone and embrace the snow in and around Wanaka. 

Last week Year 12 Geography students travelled to Central Otago studying a range of climatic factors.

Year 13 student Tim Howard is participating in the Gateway programme and is hosted by Steve Mowat Builders.

As part of our programme of presenting Tertiary options to boys, twenty seniors spent Thursday afternoon looking around different departments on the Polytechnic Campus.

Along with the Open Night recently held OBHS hosted Year 8 students from local schools for a morning of activities, fun  and a general introduction to a day at Otago Boys'.

Our Scholarship Statistics boys, who deserve huge acknowledgement for attending Thursday evening or Saturday morning tutorials all year, take a small break to undertake a triangle distinguishability taste test.

What began in Canada in the eighteenth century came to a head last night as OBHS A took on the Rangers in the Otago Secondary Schools Sports Association B‐Grade Ice Hockey League and came out on top. And it was a nail‐biter.

Rabia’s visit, exclusively to Dunedin, has been organised by the Otago Medical Research Foundation with funds raised going to the Foundation’s work of establishing world-class research right here in the city.

This Park House Table Tennis competition is organised by Year 12 students as part of a Physical Education Internal Assessment. A highly contested battle today between Park 1 and Park 2 to build brotherhood.

The Parents Association are delighted to offer another exciting and fun filled evening to our school community. On September 9th at 6.30pm we will be hosting an evening of jewellery, clothing, and a little pampering by way of a nail therapist and hand massage therapist at the delightful Rockbourne House in York Place.

Students thinking about further study after they leave school have a lot of decisions to make.

There is only 1 more day to make payment for your sons NCEA fees. 

As much as possible, could boys and parents please make all medical, (off site) physio, dentist and driving lesson appointments for students out of school time. These one off, but sometimes frequent absences during the year can have a considerable impact on student learning. Your support is appreciated.
