Reminder - School is closed tomorrow for Teacher Only Day and Monday for the King's Birthday.
Our next Assembly is THURSDAY 27 June. This will double as our Term 2 CAPES Assembly and Matariki celebrations. Please note we will start this assembly at 2pm.
At last week's assembly I was proud to presented Yuhasa with her MANY Capes Certificates. Yuhasa knew early in the year that she would be leaving Outram School on 'Moving Day', so she set herself the goal of achieving her All Round Capes Awards. She managed to get her All Round Silver and many others. An excellent example of motivation, work ethic and making the most of opportunities. We wish Yuhasa and Sethu all the best at their new school and I look forward to presenting many more of our hard working students with their Capes Awards in Week 9.
Some of our staff participated in oral language professional learning this week. In the past few years education professionals have noticed young children's speech development and oral language are not as advanced as it used to be when they enter school. A lot of correction and speech language support is needed in the early years. Oral language is the foundation to writing and reading development. I have included an article on screen time from a recent study that you may find interesting.
