I think everyone felt a sense of relief with the news we could return to alert level 1. This enabled us to hold our swimming sports on Friday - what a great carnival atmosphere and some records broken in the pool! Well done.

Early in February six senior students of Samoan ethnicity participated in a workshop with presenters Tofiga Fepulea'i and James Nokise and some students from Palmerston North Boys’ High School.

Congratulations to these girls who were all 2021 recipients of a Central Energy Trust Bursary.

At the end of 2020 we said farewell to Mrs Billie Rountree and her team after 15yrs of outstanding service here at PNGHS. We wish Mrs Rountree and her team all the best for the future.

Please remember that the bus bays in Fitzherbert Avenue are not for dropping off students. We have witnessed some near misses with buses from people using this area as a drop off.

Year 12 students have the opportunity to attend the award winning one day RYDA Road Safety Education Programme. RYDA is designed for 15-17 year olds as they begin to drive or ride in cars driven by their peers. The programme focuses on attitude and awareness with the aim of equipping young adults to stay safe on our roads. This programme is not just for drivers, but young people as passengers too.

This International Women’s Day (Monday 8 March) UCOL will be hosting an uplifting kōrero on how we bring women to the decision-making table.

The Year 9 Meet and Greet scheduled for Tuesday 16 February was postponed due to Covid Level 2 restrictions.
