It was with a sigh of relief that the first planting day for the Park finally came together on the 7th August. Working alongside the Conservation Volunteers NZ and Christchurch City Council groups for a year to make sure Rotary was visible in this process has had its challenges.

I have had an interesting journey in the first two months of this Rotary year.

Another six children at Te Waka Unua school have earned the right to call themselves Healthy Heroes. They have completed a variety of ‘healthy lifestyle’ activities which they now aim to incorporate into their daily lives.

It was pleasing to receive 7 grant applications by the due date.

Registrations are now open for the next Rotary Youth Leadership Award 2022 to be held at College House, Waimairi Road, Christchurch from Sunday 16th January to Friday 21st January 2022

Rolleston Rotary has been officially operating for a year but it has already begun to make it’s mark on the local Selwyn District and the town.

Cashmere Rotary has 44 members with 4 women and are about to induct a new member. The club is involved in the Mt Ada planting and maintenance of native shrubs and trapping predators on the Port Hills working with the Department of Conservation.

Cashmere Rotary enlisted the support of Hillmorton High School students when they stepped up to lend a hand to farmers in Dunsandel and Hororata last month.
