It is with great sadness that the school recognises the passing away of long serving staff member, John Fox - Foxy to his friends and colleagues.

This is a good time to remind students and parents of the importance of these exams, and ensure that everyone is familiar with the rules and regulations that accompany this examination period.

On Friday 9th November, Tuesday 13th November and Wednesday 14th November we will be holding examinations for Year 10 students.

Each year the University of Canterbury holds the KIWI Competitions in English, Maths and Science.

During the school holidays, the year 12 Te Reo Māori class travelled to the Rarotonga in the Cook Islands to experience and explore the culture, the language and our ancestry as Māori.

This year, boys in Years 11-13 will be able to take part in the annual Movember Foundation campaign to raise awareness of men’s health issues, including prostate and testicular cancer, mental health issues and suicide prevention.

It started with, “180!” – Year 13 student and fourth year SBHS Darts Club member, Matt Kendall, shouting into the SBHS Assembly Hall microphone in front of 650 Shirley Boys. “You are all invited to enter the first ever SBHS Darts OPEN Championship”, “that’s right, it open to every SBHS student”.
