Wow!! What a week of progress through risk taking and hard mahi.

Nesra Wale, our amazing Room 12 teacher, has been the focus of an episode of My Hijab and Me.

At the end of last year, Mohamed, a level two construction student at Hillcrest High School, designed a shoe rack for students aged 5-12.

In these COVID days, many of us have been through hard, challenging and unpredictable times. As this video states, routine can be key in getting back on track.

To celebrate the end of our bike week all the senior school participated in our very on triathlon. This involved running four laps around the field, biking 4 laps of the school, swimming 3 laps in the pool, finishing with a short sprint and most importantly a celebration dance.

One of the topics we have explored is the importance of coral reefs and why they are important to the food chain and our planet.

Thanks to KidsCan, over the next month or so, we will be issuing warm rain jackets to all students in our school who have not previously been allocated one.

Wednesday, 13th April - wear a hoodie to school, bring a gold coin donation, help raise awareness and support the good work of Autism New Zealand.

Vision Hearing Technicians from Community and Southern Rural Health will be visiting our school next Monday. The objective of the test is to identify previously undetected vision and hearing defects. If any parents/caregivers do not want their child to be checked, or their child is currently under specialist care for a vision or hearing defect, they should let the school know.

The PTG met last week. We always welcome new members - we’d love to see some new faces at our meetings. If you can’t commit to meetings but would like to help out at events, please let us know. We especially need parents that can help out during the day occasionally.

We were fortunate once again to have received some Ministry Funding to subsidise these music classes again this year. Fifteen minute individual lessons are held on a Tuesday morning. Our two music tutors also teach at Berkley Middle School. If your child would like to access these lessons, please contact Priscilla Thatcher in the School Office.

To help us keep all students at school safe, it is important that we are notified before 9.00am each day if your child is not going to be at school. Your support here is vital.
