St Margaret’s College continues to be one of New Zealand’s top schools. The 2020 NCEA and International Baccalaureate results illustrate our student and staff commitment to academic excellence and the extraordinary strength of our teaching and learning with pass rates of 99% and 100% respectively at Year 13.

The wellbeing theme for this coming fortnight is ‘connections’. Our recent experience with remote learning, communities in lockdown and significantly reduced travel has emphasised how important our connections are with each other, and how many ways we can keep connected when face to face time is limited

The school year has started with a focus on each and everyone’s role as a member of the St Margaret’s community.

Grow Ōtautahi, is our very own Garden Festival held in Christchurch Botanical Gardens on Friday 12 March through to Sunday 14 March 2021. For the first time, our Junior School will be entering in a garden design.

This week's featured local businesses are Irving Builders, Precision Cutting, Lizzie's Cuisine, Mandy's Horseradish and Phoenix PDP. These are all local business who support St Margaret's College and we'd love you to support them back as much as possible, thank you.

We're so looking forward to sharing some amazing speakers with our SMC parents in 2021. Kicking it all off is John Parsons, John offers us specialist advice and direction on the safe and ethical use of Digital Communication Technology.

The SMC PFA is a friendly bunch of people who provide support to the school by organising social functions and events throughout the year and providing volunteers to help with school activities.

A huge welcome to 2021 and to our first Sports newsletter of the year. We are extremely excited to see what 2021 has in store for us and we welcome all of our new athletes to St Margaret’s alongside the amazing ones we already have.

Our Y13 IB Music girls shared their suburb talents with staff, students and guests at the IB Graduation last week. The girls sang “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman.

Thanks to the recent lockdown experience we have learned that physical distance does not need to prevent our students from participating in classes - should they wish to and be physically fit to do so.

All transitions are important, but the transition into high school is unique. Successful transitions rely on a number of social, emotional and practical factors. Being well prepared is key to an easier transition that should be viewed as a process over time, rather than a one-off event.

We are in the process of collating the names of girls who may use a bus service to and from St Margaret’s College.
