What a fun week!

Room 5 welcome Miss Capil into our class for the next 3 weeks. Miss Capil is a second year student at Teachers College. We look forward to having you in our class!

Room 5 have been out and about this week with the DCC bikes in school programme. The programme is made up of three main aspects and children have to demonstrate proficiency to the tutors in each grade to progress onto the next. Grade 1 – Preparing for on-road riding Grade 2 – Introduction to on-road riding Led rides – Introduction to independent riding on the road.

Thank you to all the students in Room 5 who donated a gold coin and either wore a wacky wig or crazy hair style. Our donations for this are going to support Kiwi Kids with cancer. Room 5 made a total of $37! A big thank you!

Well done to all of Room 5 who gave it their all at Cross Country last week. It was great to see the students running around in house colours with a smile on their face giving their absolute best!

This week Room 5 and 6 explored ocean currents, made our own compasses and built Waka horua.

Chips for lunch!

Room 5 have been working hard this week on our presentation for our Science fair. An excellent effort from all students. These will go on show next week and will get marked by judges. Good luck!

Room 5 has had an exciting week building and creating their very own marble runs. The aim was to make the longest running construction. They were in teams and experimented with using different materials to make their ball move the slowest. They learnt a lot about teamwork!

Kia ora, I am really enjoying being a part of Room 5 and we have been up to lots of exciting things this week! We have been doing lots of science experiments, such as ‘Walking Water’ and ‘Magic Jumping beans,’ which Room 5 have loved getting involved in. Miss Fleming

This was a great success in Room 5. Room 5 students all wore something pink to support the mahi of the Mental Health Foundation.

Well done Eliza on your bronze reading badge. Eliza has been working really hard to achieve this. What a great achievement.

Well done to Evie, Tomos and Mason. These students have been challenging themselves and working really hard to achieve their bronze reading badge. Ka pai!

Well done to Eli and his team who won the Taieri sevens competition. Eli also won the best sportsmanship trophy across all teams. An excellent effort!

Miss Fleming is our Master student who has been here every Wednesday in Term 1. We love how kind, funny and supportive she is. We are really looking forward to her being in our environment for the next 6 weeks.

Some very unusual things happen when you mix a little milk, food coloring, and a drop of dish detergent!

Room 5 have been utilising Pobble 365 to engage us and motivate us for our writing. It begins with a weird, wonderful and/or thought-provoking image to inspire us to write.

Well done to everyone who put in a great effort and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones in our first block run for 2022. The block run is 2 laps of the block around the school. To get a badge you have to run this in certain times.
