It is weeks like this that remind me of what a supportive and positive hapori we have here at Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School. We can say no more than THANK YOU for your willingness to role model our E Tū Tāngata mindset to your children, our amazing students.

Last week we held our Senior Swimming Sports Carnival at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre. Our tamariki that signed up were buzizng with nerves and excitement as the races began. It was wonderful to hear the students cheering and showing that 'Others Matter.'

Yesterday the Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School 2023 School Leaders spent the morning at Affinity Gym taking part in a variety of team-building exercises. These activities encouraged them to work on communication skills, patience, listening skills, and teamwork. The afternoon was spent back at school breaking off into three different groups and planning their year. They are very excited to get stuck into their mahi!

We had an amazing morning on Friday 17 February! Kahikatea and Pōhutukawa went to the hall and the One NZ Warriors arrived!

At Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School, our thoughts and best wishes continue to go out to all New Zealanders in the North Island who are dealing with the aftermath of the devastating Cyclone Gabrielle event. Like us all, I'm sure you have had whānau or friends who have been directly impacted.

EARLY CLOSURE NOTICE: We have just been notified by NZEI that all NZEI Te Riu Roa members at our school are required to attend a paid union meeting, TODAY, Wednesday 20th March to discuss their ongoing collective agreement negotiations.

We continue to take the Health & Safety of our tamariki very seriously. This includes our desire that all our students are safe when traveling to and from school. We all need to continue to remain vigilant especially when picking up and dropping off using a vehicle. Here are some important reminders.

Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School uses SchoolDocs to maintain a comprehensive, up-to-date set of policies and procedures. These policies and procedures follow guidelines and legislation and best practice and have been tailored for our school.

The Ministry of Education is providing schools with an additional Teacher Only Day in 2023 to continue to work on the revised NZ Curriculum. The Board of Trustees would like to advise that Te Ahi Kaikōmako Rolleston School will be closed for instruction on THURSDAY 16th NOVEMBER.

The Rotary Club of Garden City has organised this event for many years to promote the development of healthy, fun-loving, and well-adjusted young people. Our emphasis is on participation rather than competition and in line with this, all entries go in a lucky draw for two mountain bikes and helmets. All competitors will on the day receive a competition shirt, which they must wear to compete as well as a medal, certificate, and goodie bag.

Once again The Arts Centre will be filled with the Arts! This weekend spectacular is for all ages, bringing to the forefront The Arts Centre’s unique spots, amazing retailers, and stunning restored heritage spaces that are perfect for creativity. Off Centre is a lively extravaganza, celebrating this beautifully restored site, and welcoming the public back in a shamelessly bold and bright new way.

Convergence Dance studios will be running classes from the South Point dance studio in Farringdon (Rolleston).
