Tena Koutou! Schools are busy places. Things do not slow down, a lot gets covered in a short space of time and that has been exactly the case for Term 3 this year!

Is the final house event of the year and will normally decide the winner of the Inter-House bragging rights for the year!

Currently, one of our school rules is that cell phones are to be away / out of sight during class time, unless the teacher wishes to use them in class as part of the learning.

The House celebrated its first ‘National NZ Boarding Week’ from 14th – 18th September with a variety of activities.

On Thursday 24 September, the Year 9 students participated in the annual Creative Movement performances in the gym.

On the afternoon of Tuesday 22 September, the sound of voices filled the Nora Dickie Hall as House Choirs competed for the Dorothy Gibb Cup.

A reminder to Year 8s starting next year who have enrolled, but not had their interview, should have received an email giving instructions on how to book the interview.

So much has happened this term including Ara Sector days, Girl Boss Summit, KPMG Study Link presentation, Otago Tertiary trip, Pathways Assembly, Tertiary Course Planning, Course Selection Evening and the New Zealand Defence Force visit.

Over 20 students took part in the Gateway Programme this year and they have thoroughly enjoyed being out on work experience in local businesses.

Ara recently held another Trades & Health Sector day, this time for Years 9 - 11 students.

Last week some of our Year 12 & 13 students completed a two day Barista course at School.

We were excited to be given some New World “Little Gardens” to grow in the unit.

Year 12 Geography students from Timaru Girls’ High School and Timaru Boys’ High School recently travelled to Aoraki Mt Cook Village for a day trip in lieu of a two day overnight trip that was cancelled in Term 1 due to Covi-19.

On the 27th August the Year 13 Biology class went to Christchurch Orana Park Wildlife Park.
