Thanks to Ebbett Hamilton for their generous sponsorship of a 2021 Isuzu D-Max LS-M Double Cab 4x4 ute (as photographed above with Karl Nation, Ebbett Dealer Principal, and Mary Curran, Principal). The shiny new ute will be mainly used by our catering team but will also be available to other school members upon request. Our deepest gratitude to Ebbett for investing in our vision.

On 25 August, we are holding our Parents Information and Senior Options event. The afternoon/early evening event aims to provide parents and students with advice and information about senior subject choices and the NCEA system.

It's official. Yet again, the combined Dio and St Paul's A team has taken out the Torpedo7 Get2Go regional title!

Wāhine toa made up 54% of The NZ Commonweath Games Team, the highest representation in Commonwealth & Olympic history - and FIVE of those incredible wāhine toa were Dio Old Girls! Julia Ratcliffe (Class of 2011) - Women’s Hammer Throw (SILVER MEDALLIST); Tarryn Davey (Class of 2013), Alia Jaques (Class of 2012) and Alex Lukin (Class of 2015) - Women’s Hockey (4th IN COMMONWEALTH); Olivia King (Class of 2018) - Cycling - Individual Sprint, Sprint Time Trial and Team Sprint (GOLD MEDALLIST). In addition, Old Girl Gloria Julia King was Chef De Mission for Team Vanuatu.

The results are in for our eight senior students studying university papers through the Dio Hub. The students all passed with an incredible A- average.

We hope you have had a fantastic start to Term 3 and have started with a positive attitude. With the anticipated senior-derived grade exams fast approaching, we hope you are feeling prepared and ready to give your best. How crazy to think that we only have half the year to go? As a collective, let's make the most of the opportunities and finish the year on a high.

This week, the Associate Minister of Education has announced changes to NCEA that recognise the impact of student and teacher absences due to COVID-19 and other winter illnesses on teaching, learning and assessment this year.

After huge success at the Big Sing WaiBOP regional in June, Bel Suono Choir is counting the days until the Big Sing Finale competition in Christchurch! From Thursday, August 25 - Sunday, August 27, the choir will perform and compete in multiple sessions against the top 24 choirs in New Zealand.

At the end of July, 45 Years 10 and 11 students took courses as part of the Future Horizons programme.

It's time for some dad and daughter time over a delicious breakfast at the Father Daughter Breakfast 2022 on Monday, 5 September. This year, our special guest speaker is Dio Dad and Hamilton Zoo Director, Dr Baird Fleming. Limited tickets, get in quick!

Brightening up a rainy winter Sunday morning, the beautiful voices of Dio's Cantiamo Chapel Choir lead the Choral Eucharist at The Waikato Cathedral Church of St Peter on Sunday, 7 August. It was wonderful to have members of our Mission Council read passages in the Service as well. Many thanks to our Waikato Dio and Anglican community for your support.

A warm Dio welcome to the following new members of staff

The Bible opens with two of the most spectacularly misunderstood stories in Scripture. They are different and complementary but all too often blended. And if you have ever made a smoothie, you will know how difficult it is to un-whiz the whizzed.

On the farm, our Dio families are currently very busy with new animals and winter challenges. Once again, I would like to highlight the Stock Scheme at Dio and how our families can be involved in giving back to their school.

Please state your name, your child’s name, their class, and a reason for the absence. If the absence is for more than one day, please also advise this in your message.

Dio's Student Services has moved from the Wellness Centre and is now located in the former shop space in the Sports Education Centre.
