After losing the year 13 leavers at the end of the year, there have been a number of new recruits come into the team. It is great to see everyone working so hard and training and the real progress the whole team is making. The team have started back strongly into the 2024 season playing in both the competitive and social open adults grades. They have had some good wins, including beating some teams they had previously lost to before the xmas break, as well as some close losses along the way. The team are enjoying playing against some top opposition including NZ and regional rep players. They are currently sitting in semi final contention in both grades, this is great leading into the upcoming Aoraki Secondary Schools competition and South Island Secondary School’s competition. So far over the 2023/2024 summer season they scored 93 tries with Elie Craig currently leading the way with 22 with Tate Hargreaves, Henry Lucas and Rua Taupo chasing her down with 14,14 and 11 tries to their name. It is great to see many of the WHS players (current and former players) being asked to play in the top men's and women’s grades for other teams as well! It’s also great to see the effort the students are putting into learning and growing their skills.

A massive thank you to Tim Caird who is doing an amazing job with coaching the team!
