What is Experience Ara?

Experience Ara is all about giving you a feel for tertiary-level study with hands-on taster days, holiday programmes and workshops in a wide range of subjects.

Events are held throughout the school year and most are free.* Depending on the activity, you might meet tutors and current students, use the Araindustry-standard facilities to undertake tasks and challenges, or just have a great time learning about a subject you’re really interested in.

What are the Benefits?

If you’re interested in a particular subject area at Ara, these sessions will give you lots of useful information on their programmes, plus great advice on how to produce a quality application, portfolio or audition.

Junior Tasters are ideal if you have little or no experience in a subject but you’d like to explore it as a potential future career, these are designed for Year 9 and 10 students. If you have some understanding of a particular subject area and you’re considering studying it at a tertiary level, Senior Tasters, designed for Year 11, 12 and 13 students, are a great way to get hands-on experience.

Students can also earn NCEA credits through STAR courses!

Below are the events coming up during the April school holidays, or you can check out all of Experience Ara offerings here.
