Welcome to the second report for the school newsletter where we would like to give you, our community, an insight into some of the things we do as your Board of Trustees.

We are again holding our annual Careers / Employment Expo on Friday 28 May, after a break in 2020 with COVID.

This is a question we’re often asked, and what makes it tricky to answer is that Gateway can be many, many different things!!

Our hostel, Waitaki House, is situated on site here at Waitaki Girls' High School. It provides positive, caring and structured accomodation for young women and we welcome enquiries for new and current students to board full time or to flexi-board to suit their personal situations.

In 2022, blazers are compulsory for all students. Get in early and be prepared. Please come see us at the Uniform Shop, Thursdays 1-2pm or send an email to uniform@waitakigirlshigh.school.nz. Laybuy is available.

Early Sunday morning the Year 13 History class headed away to Banks Peninsula in their search for primary and secondary evidence to support their individualized research into the early contact period of Banks Peninsula.

Congratulations to Charlotte Lane who recently competed in the combined NZ Secondary Schools and South Islands Trampoline competitions in Christchurch.

In order to complete the practical components of two achievement standards - ‘Demonstrating Safe Practices’ and ‘Using Self Management strategies in Outdoor Activities’, the Year 11 PE classes headed north for a day to take part in rock-climbing, high ropes and adventure based learning activities.
