Weekly Round up

Our week has been centred around the idea of community. As the whakataukī 'He rau ringa, e oti ai' suggests, by working together and utilising the skills and strengths of each individual, we can easily achieve success. This powerful message highlights the importance of unity and community.

This week, our school community came together for the much-anticipated Runathon event. It is a special occasion that holds a significant place in our calendar as one of the few events that brings our school together. The purpose of this event is not just to raise funds but also to create a sense of togetherness and support for the people around us who need tangible change.

The week kicked off with an exciting lineup of lunchtime events featuring students and staff members. As the week progressed, anticipation grew for the much-awaited Runathon, which took place on Thursday and Friday. The event concluded with a concert in the Allan Gibb Centre.

The success of this event can be attributed to the dedication of our prefects and staff, who worked tirelessly to ensure that everything ran smoothly. Special mention to Mr Liam Ford who was a great support for all involved.

This week also marks the beginning of Ramadan. During Monday's assembly, Imran Abati, a Year 11 student, gave an inspiring speech about the event. He emphasised the importance of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, empathy, and devotion to Allah. Ramadan is a time of fasting from dawn till sunset, increased prayer, charitable giving, and seeking forgiveness. As a kura, we acknowledge our Muslim families who are an integral part of our community.
