Runathon 2024

With the year off to a hiss and roar, one of the biggest events in the school calendar was a great success: Runathon 2024.

Into its 26th iteration, the Runathon is a student-led charity event focused on raising support for five incredible charities: Downtown City Ministry (DCM), Wellington Boys and Girls Institute (BGI), Wellington Rape Crisis, Kaibosh Food Rescue, and World Vision.

In the week preceding the event, dubbed Hype Week, students and staff participate in a range of activities to promote the electric atmosphere that Runathon always generates. This week, we have seen a fiercely contested Staff vs Students debate. The moot: Staff should adhere to the cellphone ban. Congratulations to students Connor Redding, Nikhil Cox and Arthur Fell for your victory over Ms Rivkah Nathan, Ms Cushla Thomson and Mr Bob Mason.

Wednesday saw students competing against their peers in the House Touch competition. Congratulations to Hauwai on your victory over Kaipapa in the finals! Finally, the highly anticipated Staff vs Students Football match was held on Thursday. Amidst a series of tackles, penalties, and friendly contact, the staff came away on top.

On Friday we welcomed our partner schools, Wellington Girls College and Samuel Marsden Collegiate School. We would like to thank their staff and students for their continued support of the Runathon. The event concluded with the Runathon Concert, showcasing the talents from a diverse range of student performers. A final thanks to our whānau and caregivers for your support of your young people as they show dedication and commitment to supporting the most vulnerable in our community.
