In the recent US presidential elections, every single poll was incorrect in their predictions with the exception of one – conducted via artificial intelligence! The list of what a human can only do or better than a machine is getting smaller and this exponential growth in technology is disrupting all areas of our economy and business.

Congratulations to Year 13 accounting student Jackson Murray, who was recently awarded a prestigious Price Waterhouse Cooper mentoring scholarship. 

The Confucius Classroom of the Year award is to recognise the excellent Chinese programme and outstanding achievements in Chinese language teaching and learning.

Host families are required to host students and two teachers from our sister school in Beijing, Beijing No. 4 High School. 

All Year 12 Business Students are members of groups that run businesses which have a community well-being focus and our year 13 Business Students run businesses that must achieve a quadruple bottom line (Economic Environmental Social and Bi-Cultural Sustainability).

On Wednesday 14 September, our French students had an activity day with the students of Rangi Ruru Girls’ School.

After the devastating earthquake in North Canterbury last month, we decided we could help that community out by doing a water drive, which became "Water for Waiau".

As the year draws to a close and the last of the Year 10 classes complete their vocational pathways programme, it is possible to look back on another successful year. 

As mentioned in the last edition of the Blue and Black News, 43 Year 12 students chose Digital Technologies Computing (DTC) this year which was delivered by Ara Institute of Technology staff. The two classes were taught by Josh Hough, an Ara tutor both on and off-site. This has been a highly successful initiative with students achieving fantastic results and student feedback being extremely positive.

There are three scholarships which are available (by application) for Christchurch Boys’ High School students who go on to study at University.

Many of the prizes awarded at our Senior and Junior Prizegiving's carry the names of Old Boys and are funded from endowments left to the School through the years.
