The third term of 2019 is almost over and it is a sobering thought that, at the time of writing, there are only seventeen days of school left for our Year 11-13 students until they break for NCEA Exams.

CBHS present their second annual performing arts showcase. Once again we will be joined by a number of acts from CGHS.

CBHS students and staff changed up part of their uniform for something blue today donating a gold coin on Thursday 19th September.

At the beginning of 2019 a small but dedicated group of Monitors banded together to form a service portfolio dedicating themselves to the betterment of the school and our community.

There are three scholarships which are available (by application) for Christchurch Boys’ High School students who go on to study at University.

Elizabeth Eckford of the famed Little Rock Nine spoke on US Civil Rights, she was accompanied by Katelyn Choe the US Consul-General and Dr Eurydice Stanley, Author, Lt Colonel (ret'd) US Army.

Year 11 students competed in the annual inter-school history competition, hosted at Christ's College

Year 11 History is currently studying Apartheid in South Africa, with a focus on the 1981 Springbok Tour Protests as a significant event in New Zealand history.

The Jazz groups at CBHS were in full performance and competition mode from August 1st through to August 8th.

Lipsync is an annual arts and cultural Christchurch Girls' High event that features talent from both schools.

The snowsports squad recently competed in the Secondary School Competition at the Cardrona Alpine Resort in Wanaka.

CBHS cycling took out the Hayden Godfrey school points trophy for the 6th time with 37 points.

The 17-year-old Cantabrian looks destined for a bright future after a stellar showing at the UCI junior track cycling world championships in Frankfurt (Oder) on the Germany-Poland border.

Logan Currie will be representing New Zealand in the Under-19 individual time trial and the 150km road race in Yorkshire on September 23 and 27 respectively.

This week’s Mental Health Awareness Week is using ‘Te Whare Tapa Wha’, a holistic concept of well-being based on Māori world views, as a vehicle to promote mental health (see https://mhaw.nz/#).

The CBHS PTA are currently looking for Expressions of Interest to manage the Uniform Shop under a Contract for Services.

The PTA would like to sincerely thank the CBHS staff , school and wider community for making the Ethel and Bethel Bingo night a success. Without question it was a memorable evening and the PTA can happily announce that funds raised were in the vicinity of $10 000!

Senior students on the Gateway programme have enjoyed gaining practical experience together with industry-based qualifications across a range of industries and businesses while continuing with their studies at school.

Curriculum evening is still going ahead as planned. To help us run the event under Level 2 restrictions can we please ask you to follow the guidelines below.

It all started to kick in after our game against Mid Canterbury Combined. It was finally here. Only 5 days out from the biggest day on the school calendar. No injury, no illness, I had finally made it to college week.
