Student success was celebrated in style last week!

This year's production of Annie was our first on stage season since before the pandemic.

CSC held its first ever House Haka Competition on Monday the 31st of October. Students performed for their houses and were judged on a variety of different criteria, including effort, volume, pace and execution.

Our annual senior Prizegiving was held last Thursday evening, this was a fantastic celebration of the outstanding achievements of so many of our students.

Ben van Jaarsveld has designed and created this 3D animated Sci-fi themed music video for his Year 13 Personal DTG project. His inspiration has been YouTube artist and tutor - Ducky 3D.

On 5-6 November, Old Boy Sam Hodges returned to CSC to coach our Junior A and Senior A Volleyball Teams.

10HL science class are involved in a pilot trial for the Micro Investigators initiative.

This year we had two entries in the OnScreen Film Competition. Although we did not get through to the next round, our students worked very hard to write, film, direct and produce their short films.

7 students attended the Trapshooting Nationals in Christchurch over the school holidays.

Our wonderful junior orators competed in the CSC Speech Competitions in Week 9 of last term.

Last weekend a hardy bunch of intrepid Year 9s, along with Mr Meechang, Mr Knapp, Mrs Cowie and “Nana” Noela headed up to Central Otago for two days of mountain biking along the Clutha Gold Trail.

At the start of this term, 9 students completed the Otago Rail Trail as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Leadership Award.

On 29 September the Year 11 class attended the Fonterra Careers Day where we were driven around the Edendale factory in a bus stopping at various points. We got to see inside the coolstores to see the robots in action. We then travelled to Woodlands to Dinnington’s Robot Farm which was fascinating!

On Saturday 29 October, three pairs of senior volleyball players traveled to Brighton Beach near Dunedin to compete in a one-day Otago Beach Competition.

On the 16th of September, 8 junior students competed in the Get2Go challenge in Queenstown.

Congratulations to the 6 students who were selected as finalists or Top Performers at the Sports Awards held early in November.

On Wednesday the 28th of September the SMAC maths competition was held at Southland Girls’ High after being cancelled for the past 2 years.

The Lions Youth Leadership Course at Borland Lodge is fast approaching. This annual leadership course for 16-19 year olds has been run at Borland for many years by the Lions organisation in conjunction with Adventure Southland.

The Girls Rugby 7's team attended the South Island Secondary Schools 7's Tournament in Geraldine.

On the 3rd of November, two teams of six Year 10 students competed in the National Readers Cup Competition, called the Battle of the Bibliophiles, against 49 teams from 34 schools.

Our 9 Brazilian exchange students headed home on Monday 24th October after spending Term 3 with us. They were part of a larger New Zealand-wide exchange of 100 students in total. We are very excited to be offering Marathon in a Month for the first time in Otago and Southland this year.
